Cruise in Style: Unveiling the Classic 1955 Lincoln Capri Convertible

It is a factory hot rod. What about Lincoln? In the early part of the 1950s, Lincoln boasted, “The first function of a fine car is outstanding performance.” This was in contrast to the ponderous land yachts that were frequently built by Ford’s luxury division.

Carrera Panamericana road race, which took place in 1952; Lincolns finished the event in first, second, third, and fourth place respectively.

The following year? Exactly the same outcomes. The tradition was carried on by subsequent Lincolns; however, in 1955, the power output of the 341 cubic inch V8 engine was boosted to 225 horsepower. The decade of the 1950s was also characterized by a revitalized style, particularly in the top Capri model, which remained aesthetically beautiful.

In the world of automobiles, where extravagance was becoming the norm, the 1955 Capri stood out as a unique achievement. Even the famous actress Marilyn Monroe took note; George Barris, known as the “King of Kustoms,” crafted a number of pink Capri convertibles that were individually tailored for her.

This Capri has its own fabulous factory pastel shade, Code 27 Cashmere Coral with matching Coral and White Leather interior and white top.

Although it has undergone substantial mechanical repair to ensure that it continues to drive well, including the restoration of the original engine and transmission, it still gracefully displays the gentle patina that comes with age.

The advertisement for the Lincoln Capri from 1955 stated, “For those who are never satisfied with the ordinary.” The same as Marilyn said.
