Vintage Racing Heritage: The Exhilarating 1937 AC 16/80 ‘Sloping Tail’ Competition Sports Car
There were just 42 Competition Sports two-seaters produced between the years 1935 and 1939, and this particular 1937 AC 16/80 type is one of them. Furthermore, it is one of just fourteen instances that have been constructed with “sloping tail” coachwork in the process of production during the past three years.

The automobile was initially purchased by Ms. Clare Mary Hope-Edwardes, and it was delivered to her in December of 1937. She continued to retain the automobile until the early 1950s, which is also the time when she assumed the title of Lady More of Bishop’s Castle.

This remarkable automobile is powered by a 2.0-liter inline-six engine that is equipped with an aluminum block and crankcase, is equipped with a single overhead camshaft, and is equipped with triple SU carburetors.
